Happy Birthday Mom

Looking back and remembering the days of your Life
Wishing you were still here so I could  make you a chocolate pie (your favorite)
Sing you a song and give you a hug one more time.
You were a product of your strong Kentucky roots and hard working heritage.
Life in the hills growing up was not easy,
but your Daddy and  Mommy believed and trusted in the Lord to see them through,
the endless hard times of living off the land, raising your  food source’s
and the black lung illness of working in the mines
You were a product of your strong Kentucky roots and hard working heritage.
You were not a sweet and gentle woman on the outside,
Your exterior was toughened through your life experiences
Your  many interior characteristics were what made you who you were.
You were feisty, full of spirit, fun loving, you were hard headed but able to bend when needed to,
You were strong in your beliefs, you loved  forever and always,
but you expected your love to be respected and reciprocated in like manner,
You would willingly forgive, but never forget, when  a wrong had been done one of yours, or you
You were a product of your strong Kentucky roots and hard working heritage
You were smart way beyond your learning, you had a thirst for knowledge, information,
and always a desire to learn about new things and ideas. 
You never grew older in your mind, your heart, or your looks ,or your desire to keep up with the times,
You always knew how to have fun and make the best of what you had
You were a special daughter, sister, wife, mama, granny and great granny.
You never gave up living…you just lost the wind in your lungs
Your legacy and spirit lives on  in your children, their children, their children’s children
You were a product of your strong Kentucky roots and hard working heritage
You were loved for being the honest, forthright, spirited  and loving person that you were.
Today your spirit is all around us and you would have been 81 years young.
